There was an awkward silence through the room.  I heard Erika whimper softly, but only once.  There was definitely some kind of aura going on through the room, but I couldn't name it.  Bear was watching the sink as though it would spontaneously combust.  Erika was staring at the floor trying as hard as I was to hold back tears.  I was watching over the two of them, also forcing down the tears that were threatening to overwhelm me.

I don't know what happened next, but something painfully shoved me to the floor with icy hands that sent waves of dread, pain, and anger through my body.

You will lead!

There was a whispery voice in my ears.  I know Erika and Bear did hear it, because they weren't thrown to the floor like I had been.  The voice that had whispered to me sent another chill through my body.

Rena!  You will lead!  You are LEADER!

I blacked out when the voice whispered my name.

"Rena!  Rena!  My God.  She feels so cold.  Please, Rena, please be okay!" I heard Bear pleading.  I felt myself being held in two strong arms.  They were warm, and a hand was pressed to the base of my neck.

"What happened?" I asked putting my hand on my forehead.  My head was throbbing, and I felt lightheaded.

"We don't know, you just collapsed and your neck started bleeding.  Erika ran to the bathroom to get some wet paper towels.  She'll be back soon, Rena, just stay still." Bear told me.  I looked up to him.  There was blood on his cheek and even more fear in his eyes than there was before.

I felt the rough paper towel pressed to me neck, now.  It was wet, probably from my blood.  How badly was I hurt?  How in the world did I get hurt?

"I'm back!  Gawd, Rena, are you okay?" Erika asked rushing into the room and removing the blood soaked paper towel from my neck to replace it with the wet towel.

"I don't know.  My chest burns, a little, but I'm okay." I answered.  Bear helped me sit up.  The bleeding had stopped, and judging by the look on Erika’s face, the wound had already turned into a scar.

"What?" I asked confused.

"Rena, you won't believe it, but it looks like you have a deep red scar on your chest." Erika said pointing to my chest.

I raised my hand to feel the scar.  There was raised skin, like a scar should, in the shape of a large "L" on my chest.  My shirt hid most of it, but the part that was visible was on my neck and any part of my chest showing.

"Weird...  This voice said that I was a LEADER." I said still feeling the scar on my chest.  There was an awkward silence.

"Oww!" Erika shouted.  I snapped my head up in time to see her head turn to the side as though she had just gotten slapped by someone.

"Rena!  Why'd'you hit me?!" Erika shouted at me holding her right cheek.  My mouth dropped open as I glared at her.

"I didn't hit you, Era-chan!" I shouted back at her.  We were both staring at each other with pure hate in both of our eyes.

"Hey!  Stop it!  Both of you!" Bear stepped in trying to stop the glaring contest.  Erika removed her hand as she looked to her left, give both Bear and me a good view of what had been revealed.

There was a large "D" from her cheekbone.  It had a circle in the center of it; there was part of the back line missing at the top, only to be placed at the top leading to her eye.

"Whoa, Era-chan...  You may wonna look in the mirror." I said pointing to the mirror of the classroom.  It was hanging on the wall by the front desk since the room is used to Chemistry classes.

Erika stood up and rushed to the mirror.  She screamed when she saw her reflection.

"Oh my gawd!  There's a D on my cheek!  There's a friggin' D on my cheek!" Erika shouted pointing at the mirror.  She traced the lining on her face.  "Heh, it's pretty."

"Era-chan!" I said slapping my forehead.

"Hey, you said you heard a voice say something about being LEADER, right, Rena?" Erika asked turning on her heel and walking back to us.

"Yeah.  It said "You will lead!  Rena, you will lead!  You are LEADER!"...  So I guess LEADER is a kinda leader?" I said thinking.

"Mine said the same thing.  Only, I was DEFENDER.  What's a DEFENDER?!" Erika asked me.  Like I had any idea...

"No clue...  Man, I wish I knew..." I whispered.  I felt an arm around my shoulders and a head on the top of mine.  I looked up to see Bear was hugging me.

Erika scooted over and put an arm around my waist and rested her head on my shoulder.

I put my arms around my friends, and leaned back onto the wood desk behind us.

What was going to happen to the three of us?  Why was I LEADER?  What was a LEADER?  Why was Erika DEFENDER?  What was a DEFENDER?  Will we ever get the answers?

Okay, at least this didn't make me cry this time.

Edited! Yes, it's true. This one didn't make me cry. For once... It's a sad thought that a fictional story can make the writer cry.
